Climbing with children - Special rules for climbing with children
A climbing hall is an exciting and fun environment. It is also a dangerous environment. You as an adult have a responsibility for both the children and your own safety. Therefore, you must ensure that the rules are followed. You are required to follow these rules if you visit Klättercentret with children. So that your visit will be as safe and enjoyable as possible for everyone.
Choose a quiet time
On weekdays evenings 17-21, and weekends 12-16 there are a lot of people in our premises. During other times it is both calmer and safer to climb with children.
Climb top rope!
Top rope climbing on the high walls does not cause the risks of bouldering. We therefore recommend it instead. Do you want to try top rope or learn how it works? Read more here!
If you have already taken a course and learned to belay your child, just bring your green or red card and keep it visible on the harness and read the rules for safe rope climbing.
Safe bouldering
For bouldering with children under the age of 12, one active adult per child applies. If you come with more than one child, only one child may be active at a time while the other children will have to wait for their turn.
One person at a time
Climb only one person at a time. Do not climb underneath each other.
Do not play with the ropes
Repen ska användas till klättring.
Do not play in the gym
Playing with the gear is not allowed and may be dangerous. The gym is for exercise.
Don't run
Running children are a risk for themselves and for those who climb and belay.
One Child - One Adult
Every child under the age of 12 must have an active and responsible adult with him/her in the boulder area. If there are several children who want to climb, they have to wait on the floor outside the mats. This is also recommended for children over 12 years old.
Spot your child
In the climbing world, it is called "spot". This means that you make sure that the climber has a free surface to land on and make sure that he/she lands in balance on the feet. Children must have an adult who "spots" all the time. The spotter must also make sure not to end up in the way of other climbers.
12-year limit for bouldering
Bouldering is not recommended for children under 12 years. It is allowed to be younger, but you as an adult must be aware that walls and pads are not adapted to the children's height and weight, so climb only half way up.
